Thorpe thug jailed for Staines brawl
Four men from Spelthorne and north Runnymede have been given more than ten years in jail collectively for their involvement in a street brawl in Staines last year.
Kevin Kurlej, 22, from Cordelia Road, Stanwell, Samuel Tite, 26, of Oakley Mill House, Thorpe, John Murphy, 23, of the Nightingales, Staines and Nicholas Fitzpatrick, 24, of White Hill Place, Virginia Water were given 30, 40, 40, and 18 months in jail respectively for being involved in a mass brawl when they appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Friday (January 5).
The incident occurred on Saturday May 30 last year when the men were drinking in Staines, which escalated in the evening when a group of men armed themselves with planks of wood from Mustard Hill Road and confronted another gang by the Iron Bridge.
A fight broke out and one man was kicked and punched and sustained serious injuries.
Eleven men were arrested and charged with violent disorder and/or grievous bodily harm following a police investigation.
Detective constable Brett Harris, who led the investigation, said: "We are delighted with this result, and we hope this sends out a very clear message that this type of violent and brutal behaviour will not be tolerated."
The police have issued CCTV of man they still want to speak to in connection with the incident, who has yet to be identified.
